ANTICIPATING YOUR QUESTIONS
Following are answers to commonly asked questions by parents of prospective students:
What facilities will be available for those students entering in the fall of 2008?
Our students will be the first to occupy our new upper school facility when they start school in the fall of 2008. The new facility will feature a theater, dining commons, sports complex, and state-of-the-art classrooms and labs.
Will there be uniforms?
Uniforms will be required through 11th grade. The senior class will develop a dress code for the class.
What is the curriculum?
Students take a full load of secular subjects, including math, science, social studies, English, and a fine arts elective. In addition, students take classes in Judaic studies and Hebrew. All students also participate in the athletic program and a service learning program.
My child is not currently taking Hebrew. Will my child be behind?
Each student will be treated as an individual in all subjects. We are aware that many new students will be entering our school with varying levels of Hebrew mastery. Our goal is to meet the educational needs of each student in reaching his or her potential. We will accept a student’s ability with the promise to move him or her forward.
What sports will be offered in the 2008-09 school year?
We plan to offer volleyball, soccer, basketball, golf, swimming and tennis.
Is this a kosher school?
We will maintain a kosher kitchen for our school with both a meat and dairy kitchen. Students will serve on the Dining Hall Menu Planning Committee.
How many students will be in each grade level?
Our school will limit each grade to a maximum of 60 students, with the average class size not exceeding 16.
How will students be selected?
We will practice rolling admissions in which each student will have an individual review of his or her application. A student’s writing sample, recommendations and current school record will be key in determining admission to our school. All students will have a private interview. Each student will take an individual benchmark examination to determine if he or she can meet the academic rigor of our school.
If we apply for financial aid, will our child be considered in the same way as other applicants?
Financial aid will be available to students based on need. Students who apply for financial aid will be considered for admission on an equal basis with other applicants. If accepted, students on financial aid will be treated no differently from students who pay full tuition.
When will we know of the school’s decision?
You will be notified of our decision within three weeks of completing the application process.
