Preschool Updates

As we anticipate the beginning of the summer, our Cubs continue to explore outdoor lessons in our interactive playground and our water activity center. The children have grown exponentially this year, in terms of their awareness of others, their adherence to guidelines and expectations, and their processing skills. We are thrilled to have witnessed such strides over the course of the school year and feel that it is a privilege to be involved in the education of learners who are absorbing and growing more rapidly in these early years of education than they will over the rest of their lives.

Lower School Updates

Field Day

Students enjoyed careening down water slides, devouring popsicles, conquering obstacle courses and engaging in buddy blind-fold and sponge-squeezing contests at Field Day this week. This Lower School News reporter spoke with many a shivering student upon their entering campus after these outside adventures and was met with resounding thumbs-up, high fives, and five-star reviews of this year’s Field Day. Much gratitude to Coaches Lamph and Ackley for their time and effort spent preparing the festivities.

Shadow Day

Our matriculating fifth graders had the opportunity to shadow current sixth grade students this week in order to prepare for the transition into middle school. Students attended different courses, chatted with faculty, and experiencing new classrooms. We are thrilled to have been engaged in the growth and maturity of the class of 2030, and we wish them well as we send them off to Middle School next year.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Seussical the Musical! The play winds together iconic Seussian characters (Horton, Daisy-Head Mayzie, Gertrude McFuzz) together into a creative plot which centers on the earnest Seussian theme:  “a person’s a person no matter how small.” The ensemble cast took the stage with exuberance, poise, confidence, and of course, authenticity. We are abundantly grateful to our performing arts team:  Coach Lisa, Mr. Dachslager, Mr. Philippus, Mr. Sam, Mr. Robinson, and to Ms. Debbie Levy, who, after eight years as our esteemed Lower School Art Teacher, will retire at the end of this school year. Her wry humor, dedication, and creativity will be missed next year. Thank you, Ms. Levy. You have given so much of your heart and your ingenuity to our students and community. We wish you well in retirement and we will miss you so much.
